County Building Official/Plans Examiner

Nicholas Montan, Chief Buildling Official, administers the Building Department, and aslo serves as Plans Examiner.

Mr. Montan was hired by the Tuscarawas County Port Authority at the Advisory Board’s recommendation on October 24, 2004. As a registered architect with over 18 years’ experience, he brings extensive knowledge and experience to the position of CBO/PE.

Duties of the Building Official include:

• Code Enforcement
• Applications
• Plans Review
• Plans Approval
• Permit Issuance
• Issuance of Notices and Orders
• Cause Inspections
• Approve Alternate Methods and Materials
• Department Management
• Selection of Inspection Staff

Duties of the Plans Examiner include:

• Examination of Construction Documents
• Certification Exams (ICC)
• Building Plans Examiner
• Electrical Plans Examiner
• Mechanical Plans Examiner

Inspectors
John Mack serves as the Building Department's full-time Certified Building Inspector. ECOBA has independent contractor agreements with Jerry Morris, Cambridge, and Hubert Egler, Dover, as Electrical Safety Inspectors.
